Plan your week on Fridays, not Mondays

For the first 25 years of my career, I used Mondays to plan the week. It was a tradition to start by assessing the workload and setting goals. While this made sense at the time, things changed when I joined The Climate Action Agency.

Why We Now Plan on Fridays

Our team decided to shift planning to Fridays instead. This change made Fridays a time to reflect on the past week and wrap things up calmly. By the end of the week, it’s easier to review what worked, what didn’t, and get a clear picture of the next steps. With everything still fresh, we started planning ahead with more energy and focus.

This routine allows ideas to develop over the weekend, so when Monday arrives, we’re not starting from scratch.

Fresh Mondays

With Friday planning done, Mondays feel lighter. Instead of spending time on admin tasks, we jump right into meaningful work. This makes Mondays more productive and creative.

The Difference It Makes

Switching to Friday planning has transformed how we work at The Climate Action Agency. It’s a simple change, but it helps us end each week with intention and start the next one strong.

If your Mondays feel bogged down by planning, try switching to Fridays. You might find that it leads to better focus, less stress, and a stronger start to your week.
