Linkd: link sharing for content creators
In a world overflowing with content, I found myself wanting more than just to share links. I wanted to add my voice, my thoughts, and my context to what I was sharing. This longing was the inspiration behind Linkd, a platform designed to transform content sharing into a richer, more personal experience.
Linkd = Bitly ❤️ Linktree
Traditional link-sharing methods felt impersonal and disjointed. I needed a way to not only share content but also to store all my shared links in one organized location. That’s when Linkd was born—a unique blend of a link shortener and platforms like Linktree, empowering users to embed their personality into every shared link.
How Linkd works
Linkd is all about customization and personalization. You can create links that are not just anonymous URLs but ones enriched with your commentary. These links then live on your own personal page—a ‘Link Timeline.’ It’s your own corner of the internet, where all your shared content comes together, irrespective of where it was shared. The idea? Simple: Share your favorite content and grow your personal brand.
How I built the app
I embarked on this journey using Next.js and Firebase, building on my own template ‘nextjs-pwa-firebase-boilerplate’. The initial launch in the spring of 2023 marked the beginning, and the updated version released in the fall of 2024, brings more tools to further personalize and enhance user experience.
